What is Diamond Certification?

Here at Bespoke Diamonds all of our diamonds are certified. However, a diamond certification, is a diamond grading report or diamond quality document. It is a report created by a team of gemmologists. The diamond is evaluated, measured, and scrutinized using trained eyes. they also use a jeweller’s loupe, a microscope, and other industry tools.

What is a diamond certificate

A completed certificate includes an analysis of the diamond. It includes the dimensions, clarity, colour, polish, symmetry, and other chaGIA Diamond Certificateracteristics. Many round diamonds will also include a cut grade on the report. At Bespoke Diamonds we have access to over 500,000 diamonds that are certified by the main bodies. The GIA, IGI and HRD are the main cert bodies.

The GIA’s clarity grading is the most comprehensive.. The grader studies the diamond for internal characteristics. Then they judge the diamond on the basis of five clarity factors. These are size, number, position, nature, and colour. Diamonds become increasingly rare at higher levels of clarity.

Different bodies grade diamonds to slightly different standards. However, this means you could have two very similar diamonds with quite different certificates. As a result, it’s important not to rely solely on diamond certification when deciding whether to buy or not. How it looks to the naked eye is important. Because of this, diamond experts are available to review stones for buyers who are really unsure.

Whats the best Diamond Certificate?

Many bodies exist who certify diamonds. As a result, you should ensure your diamond comes from one of the more reputable ones. These Labs grade diamonds accurately. As a result, the details on the certificate matches the stones’ actual clarity and colour most closely.

The three leading bodies within the diamond industry are the GIA, IGI, and HRD.

Clarity runs from flawless, which contains no blemishes, to included.

Diamond colour is usually measured on a lettered system. The closer the letter is to the start of the alphabet, the clearer the diamond. As a result, “D” normally represents a completely colourless diamond.

We do not advise buying a diamond which has an internal certificate as its not reliable. It’s possible that the information on the sheet does not accurately describe the stone. Both colour or clarity could be different to the actual stone on sale.

Here at Bespoke Diamonds we provide a diamond certification along with your diamond. Because of this, we can find the perfect diamond for your setting. For more information please contact us at info@bespokediamonds.ie or call 01-6855800.
